went out bass fishing to knock off the cobwebs for the tournament next weekend.  it didn't go so well.  tried all the usual tactics with no luck except for some small pickerel and panfish.  nailed one small bass on a jig uder and inflow and then finally put a pattern together with a spinner bait, but nothing spectacular.

went out with a friend to try for walleye and hybrid stripers all through the night.  we tried a few dead spots and finally got to where we were going after the threat of a storm passed.  hybrids and other fish were smashing everywhere but not once did one hit our lures or bait...

night bite on hopatcong has been good but you have to stay out late, past midnight usually.  you can nab walleye off the points prior to the hybrids getting on the herring, but once you start hearing the cannon balls it's time to switch over.  try a straight retrieve top water lure.
