Trout remain slow, which is typical during the heat of summer. The best bite is early morning on the usual array of PowerBaits, nightcrawlers, or small trout jigs and lures. The bass action is fair on plastics and topwater early in the day, while the catfish and bluegill bites are pretty good. The catfish are best on cut baits, while the ‘gills are showing on meal worms, wax worms, crickets, or small jigs tipped with bait. Trout plants are each week. The trout bite remains slow with typical Summer conditions. Best bite is before 10am. Anglers worked their tackle and baits including Power Bait (especially salmon peach, spring green and garlic), night crawlers, jigs and lures to get trout on line. Hot spots included the western shore and the grassy point of lake 3. Bass bite is good with anglers reporting best action on the western and south eastern shores of lake 2. Catfish are biting on mackerel, night crawlers and shrimp from the western shore of lake 2. Bluegill are biting small jigs and meal worms with fish averaging a pound. Catches of the Week: Steve Kinsey of Alta Loma scored a 5 Lbs trout and a 9.1 Lbs catfish while fishing lake 2 near the bridge. Kinsey used a night crawler and mackerel to catrch his two fish.
