Rio Bita
Colombia
Refugio Nimajay is the only lodge on the Orinoco/Bita river system, so you'll be the only fishermen using this vast and untapped fishery.
Three different species of peacock bass inhabit the Bita: royal pavon (chicla nigrolineatus), butterfly pavon (chicla orinocensis) and the larger three-bar or speckled pavon (Chicla temensis). Other sportfish include saber-tooth payara, schooling sardinatas, piranhas and catfish weighing up to 100 pounds.
The lodge has 16 aluminum boats and 14 fiberglass Carolina Skiffs equipped with 25 HP and 15 HP motors respectively. Each boat includes two tanks of gasoline per day, comfortable seats and coolers with ice and refreshing drinks. Guides have extensive knowledge of fly-fishing and catch-and-release sport fishing. In addition to the Bita, our package offers payara fishing on whitewaters rapids of the Orinoco.
The newly renovated lodge has two cabins with 2 rooms each, accommodating a total of eight guests. Each room has two single beds, private bathroom, running water and electricity. The main lodge has a restaurant and satellite television.
