Hawaii - Bonefishing With Coach Duff
United States

This is not a “nursery” fishery or a “numbers” fishery. This is a true “trophy” fishery. It offers big winds, giant spooky bonefish and ever changing weather conditions. Captain Terry Duffield (Coach Duff) has been brutally honest about these challenges from day one and this honesty is something he takes both pride in and has built a world renowned guiding operation in. Make no bones about it, this fishery is not for everyone. The largest bonefish landed by a client is 14.8 pounds and 10 plus pound fish are hooked and lost or hooked and landed weekly. 8 and 9 pound fish are very common in the waters of Oahu. An “average” bonefish is about 6 pounds. There will be both wading opportunities on “tailers” that run up to 12 pounds (ever seen a bonefish “tail” in knee keep water?) and traditional flats fishing in custom flats boats. Start and finish times are tides dependent but remember the “Coach” is a steelhead bum from Washington by trade and has no “clock” in his skiff! If fish are available duet to tides, he will grind from dark to dark hunting your bonefish of a lifetime.
Coach has a background as a longtime combat tested Force Recon Marine, college football coach (2007 Sugar Bowl) and is the only FFF certified casting instructor in the Hawaiian Islands (testing with casting legend Tim Rajeff) so you are in the very best hands in the guiding world to deal with the wild waters, winds and giant bonefish of Oahu. This is his fishery, his backyard and he will take you out dry, and bring you back safe, tired, and hopefully with memories of the biggest bonefish you will ever see anywhere, in your lifetime! He does not just “guide” he teaches all day and no matter what your fish count is, you will become a better saltwater angler. Other species available are 9 species of trevally, but uncommon in large sizes. This is a monster bonefishery primarily and monsters they are!
When 4 anglers fish with Coach, legendary Keys Captain Chris Asaro joins the team to handle two of the anglers. Chris is a former IGFA World Guiding Champion and 21 year veteran of the big bones of Islamorada and northern Florida who now guides and hunts the monsters of Oahu with Coach Duff. You have 60 years of flyfishing experience with this “Dream Team” of professional guides and they work together like clockwork to make you trip a dream trip.
