August Fishing

It is sometimes said that fishing in August is slow, that is not always the case. Spent an afternoon on the water along the Connecticut shore and had no trouble finding Stripers and Bluefish. We were fishing with light tackle and fly rod and had equal success with both; we were using small storm shad and butterfish imitations on the fly rod and the fish hit them with reckless abandon. In two hours we managed 12 Stripers and 2 Bluefish and could have continued catching them through the tide if we would have had more time.
