Mike Meagher had been playing the fish for 15 minutes, and still he didn’t know what he had on the other end of his line. He knew only that it must be big.

Meagher, 23, and his friend Dallas Marnich, 24, both of Proctor, were fishing for walleyes on the lower St. Louis River last Wednesday when Meagher hooked something decidedly un-walleye-like.

After a 45-minute fight — and a...

It was a good day at Lake Cascade for Bob Shindelar of Meridian, Idaho, who landed a 2.6-pound, 16-inch perch while fishing on Saturday (Feb.11).

Idaho Fish and Game is recognizing it as a tie with current state record of 2-pound, 9.6-ounce ( which converts to 2.6 pounds) and 15.5-inches set in 1976. That fish was caught in Wilson Lake by Jerry Hamblin of Burley.

Her daughter Melissa wasn't so sure she could cope with a weekend in a rustic weekend ranch in Wyoming.

And things certainly seemed to go wrong for Joan Rivers on tonight's episode of reality show Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best, when she attempted to cope without her creature comforts, as well as try a few outdoor pursuits.

Her attempt at fly fishing turned disastrous when...

Sea dogs might find it fishy but this beast was a case of beginners’ luck. Angler Chris Proctor has broken the record for the biggest cod caught in the English Channel – on his first sea fishing trip.

The 31-year-old’s 19.75kg (43lb 9oz) catch was so large he thought his hook was caught on a shipwreck, until his reel began spinning.

An epic 30 minute battle ensued until the...

When 15-year-old Ethan Lynch of Amesbury reeled up a massive blue shark last August near Jeffrey's Ledge, about 20 miles off Rockport, little did he know that it would someday earn him a chance to be lauded by the state for his angling efforts.

But that's what happened this weekend when the state's Department of Fish and Game (DFG) recognized Lynch for...

The Cayman Islands angling scene recently saw a record fish on the scales.

The Camana Bay...

A three-quarter white moon set as a red, round sun rose into clear skies Saturday over Lake Winnebago.

The celestial symmetry was appreciated, not least for the brightness it added to the stage.

"Haven't been able to see the lake since Thursday," said Bill McAloon of Oshkosh, looking out over the white expanse of Winnebago from the west shore. "Now we can play some catch-up."...
