This report is for January 1st on the TN River-Wilson Lake, Alabama. The water temp on Wilson Lake is around 47 and stained to dingy dependig on where you are fishing on the lake. We took a short morning trip testing out some jerkaits and jigs along with my sons new Lew's 7' 2" Custom Lite rod equipped with a Lews's LFS Speed Spool. He started out the morning with a solid 4 1/2lb largemouth on a new jig we have been working on. Although we did not load the boat, the ones we caught were very healthy. Febuary and March is the best time to catch those big prespawn largemouth and smallmouth bass on the TN River!  Good bait choices include A-Rigs,swimbaits, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, shakyheads and jigs. Wilson Lake in North Alabama is well worth checking out, while giving you the chance to catch a giant smallmouth, or largemouth bass on any given cast.
