Elk is low and clear.  There are a lot of bass in it all the way up to Folley’s End.  There is a sparse number of steelhead left.  The best chance to find them is from the Legion Hole to the mouth.  There are also brown trout throughout the stream, suckers from I-90 down, and catfish at the lower end.

The Lake is starting to pick up, though slowly.  We have had reports of a few walleye being caught off the beach.  It seems right now the best place to launch is from Presque Isle east.  The best place to get lake trout and walleye is on the east side of the mountain.

The weather will be nice for the next week.  We do have a 30% chance of PM showers on Saturday and a 40% chance of scattered thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday.  Temps will be in the low to mid 70’s for the week.

The creeks are low and clear today. We have some rain coming through between now and Friday. We may lose the creeks Thursday, but it should be settled to pretty perfect for the first day of trout on Saturday. We have had reports of small mouth bass, smolts, and suckers as far up as the Legion Hole and there are still a good number of steelhead in the streams. Temps are going to be in the upper 40s for first day, so dress warm. Just a reminder that the creeks are closed Friday. Good luck Saturday!

The creeks are in nice shape today. They had a good color yesterday and are heading toward clear today. There is a good flow. Today temps are going to be in the low 40's. Saturday is going to be beautiful with sunshine and temps in the high 40's. Sunday will see rain, but we do not anticipate enough to harm the creeks. There are a good number of fish in the lower ends and minnows and egg sacs seem to be the bait of choice this week. Happy Easter!

The creeks are in decent shape today.  They are up a bit with a green color.  The water is cold though, so you will want to wait until the afternoon to fish when the creek has had a chance to warm up.  The fish seem to be staying in the lower end in good numbers.  It will be cold and snowy through Thursday which will keep the creek cold and make it tough to fish.  Saturday to Monday will have temps in the upper 30’s with partly cloudy skies.

After a great weekend, the creeks went bad Sunday night.  They are up, chocolate in color, and running fast.  There are lots of fresh fish in them which will move upstream this week.  The rain coming through today will keep the streams up until at least Wednesday.  By then the temps will range from the low 30’s to high 20’s.  You will want to start upstream and work your way down.

The creeks are iced up, with the Access Area completely locked up.  We have sleet today, which will taper into light flurries tonight.  The rest of the weekend will bring sunshine, but the temps will stay in the low to mid 30s.  The upper creeks may be the best place to give it a try, but you will be dealing with side ice.  Monday will bring temps in the high 30s to low 402 which will start to break all this up.

The creeks have been locked up, but that will all change this week.  We have highs in the upper 40’s to the mid 50’s Monday through Wednesday.  This is going to blow the creeks out and get rid of the ice and slush.  By Wednesday night, they will most likely be high and muddy.  Thursday the temps are going to drop to the high 20’s and will go to the low 20’s Friday and Saturday.  The flow in the creeks will be enough to keep them from freezing back up; however, you may have some trouble keeping your lines clear.  We anticipate Walnut being back in fishable shape by Thursday and Elk by Saturday.

Creeks started to lock up this morning thanks to the storm hanging over us.  We’ve received approximately 5-6” of snow since last night and have more coming over the next 2 days.  Temps are also dropping.  They will be in the teens until Thursday.  The lower end of the streams is going to be gone until we get a melt to get them opened back up.  On the upper part of the streams, you are still going to be dealing with snow, slush, and lines freezing.  Thursday things will start to warm up, but we do not have any temps over the mid 20’s forecast through Sunday.  Should you want to go out, you will want to wait until the afternoon.  There are a lot of fish in the streams, but this week is going to present you with tough conditions to fish in.

Between the snow melt and the rain that came through today, the creeks are high and muddy. We have more rain coming through Sunday so it does not look like it's going to be a good weekend to fish.

The creeks are in nice shape with clear water and a good flow.  Everything on Elk is open now, including the mouth.  There are fish all throughout the stream, but there are more down low.  Manchester Hole on Walnut Creek seems to be the best place right now.  The weather for the rest of the week is going to be great.  We have high’s on Wednesday and Thursday in the mid 40’s, Friday has highs in the low 50’s and Saturday has highs in the upper 50’s.  This warm weather will start melting off the snow, which will cool the creeks but help them maintain a nice flow.  With the cooler creeks, you will want to wait until the afternoon to fish when the sun has had a chance to warm them some.  We do have a 50% chance of rain for Friday.  If we get a good amount of rain, coupled with the snowmelt, we could see the creeks blow out, but we will have to wait and see just how much water we get.  Good baits have been minnows, single eggs, and egg sacs.

The creeks are in decent shape.  They are up with a good flow, but are still clear.  The slush is gone, but you will be dealing with side ice.  Fishermen on Elk were doing good from the mouth to Whiteman’s Bridge today.  Keep in mind this is winter steelhead season.  Fish will be more active later in the morning and afternoon when the creek has warmed up some.  Good baits are minnows, egg sacs, and single eggs.  Be sure to use a fluorocarbon line.

Today the creeks are up and muddy at the lower end. It is possible they are fishable up by the Mckean area; however, we haven't heard any reports from there yet. As long as we don't get a substantial amount of snow today, the whole creek will fish Saturday and Sunday afternoon. We do have snow forecast for the next couple days, so it will definitely be a matter of how accurate it is. If you are planning on venturing out, give us a call at 814-774-8755 for an update!

The creeks are still low and clear, but they do have a decent flow to them. Fishing will be better in the afternoon when they warm up a bit and the fish become more active. With the conditions and the water temp, it is a bit slow right now but we are still seeing nice size fish coming through the store each day. You will want to change up your baits, leads, bobbers, and location regularly. We have a 70% chance of rain tonight and a 60% chance Tuesday. We do need this rain, so heres hoping the forecast is correct.

As of Monday, the creeks are high and muddy.  They are fishable; however, you are going to need to use a lot of weight.  There are wet snow showers coming through Monday night and a chance of light snow Tuesday, so we expect the creeks to stay up until at least Wednesday afternoon.  The rest of the week will see partly cloudy skies and temps in the low to mid 40’s.  Creeks should be in great shape by the end of the week and into the weekend.

As of Friday, the creeks are in good shape.  The rain that came through Wednesday helped drive a fresh batch of fish up as far as I90.  We have scattered showers forecast for Friday and for Saturday morning as well as Sunday afternoon.  Temps will be in the 40’s.  You may get wet, but unless we get a large amount of steady rain, the creeks will stay in decent shape.

The creeks are still low and clear. The best spots in these conditions are going to be up by the mouths where the water is lake level and the fish are more active. Good baits to use are spinners, plugs, spoons, minnows, and things with better movements. You will definitely want to be using a fluorocarbon line. Tuesday and Wednesday are going to have highs in the 30s after which we will start warming up.

This is going to be a beautiful weekend to get out on the creeks.  They are still low and clear, but we have seen a lot of nice fish come through the store.  Stay away from pockets of people for the best chances.  Also, keep in mind that with the cold nights we have been having, the fish don’t start biting until early afternoon when the sun has had a chance to warm up the creek a bit.  Temps this weekend will be in the upper 40’s with plenty of sunshine.

The creeks are up as of Tuesday thanks to the rain that came through.  They are fishable and are stained.  Walnut will be better to fish on Tuesday with Elk becoming better on Wednesday.  The rest of the week will see temps in the mid to upper 40’s and sunny skies.  It’s going to be a good week to get out there!

The creeks are in nice shape today. They have a good flow and good color. We expect them to stay in good condition for at least the next few days.

Today we have had a lot of nice fish brought in for cleaning. The best places seem to be from the Legion hole to the mouth.
