SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES: Last Thursday’s plant was Lightning Trout, trophy Lightnings, and super-sized rainbows. The biggest fish reported since that plant was an 18-pounder landed by Jim Sharkey, Anaheim, on rainbow garlic PowerBait from the big lake at the boat dock. David Parez, Placentia, landed a 13-8 Lightning Trout on PowerBait from Chris’ Pond. Guillermo Valenzuela, Montclair, landed a 9-14 rainbow to win the Okuma Tournament and the $720 prize. The lake complex is closed every Thursday (the day of the weekly plants) to give the fish a chance to acclimate and spread around the lake.
