The weather, crabbing and rockfish action all remain great. On Thursday 11-6 Emeryville had three boats out. The Sea Wolf, Salmon Queen and New Seeker took a combined 81 limits of crabs, 81 limits of rockfish adding 51  lings to 18 pounds. Out of Berkeley the Cal Dawn ran to the Islands and reported 33 limits of rockfish, 40 lings to 18 pounds and full limits of crabs. The weather has been drop dead gorgeous and the forecast calls for more of the same through the weekend. Jim on the Happy Hooker has a few spots open on Friday and most of our sponsors have some limited room this weekend with lots of room weekdays next week. The crabbing has been incredible with Captain Jim Smith of the Happy Hooker out of Berkeley returning both Monday andTuesday 11-4 with 30 limits of Dungeness crab, limits of rockfish, and a handful of ling cod. They put in 9 lings on Tuesday at the Farallon Islands with a few in the 15-pound range. He said, “We limited out on rockfish in two drifts with plenty of big blues, yellows, and some large boccaccios.” They also lost several hitchhiking ling cod that dropped off on the way to the surface.  Smith added, “The crab are just big and beautiful.” They have an open load on Thursday, but the weekend is already filled. Captain James Smith on the California Dawn started up the Marin coast on Monday before heading to the Farallon Islands to finish off 22 limits of rockfish, 22 ling cod, and 22 limits of Dungeness crab, and they literally ‘picked up’ a white sea bass. He said, “My brother Chris and I teamed up for a bonus 75-pound white sea bass off of the Marin coast in the morning.” The big swell has been coming down, and it will continue to come down the next few days. They combined for 28 limits of rockfish, limits of crab, and 20 ling cod on Tuesday. The California Dawn is sold out for the next several days, but interested anglers can call to see if there are any cancellations. Emeryville Sportfishing has also been sending their clients home with limits of both crabs and rockfish. They have had three to four boats out each day fishing both the Islands and the Marin Coast for rockfish and pulling full pots. With four boats available they have room weekdays this week and some limited weekend spots open. Captain Roger Thomas of the Salty Lady will be running salmon trolling trips through the remainder of the season, and he has trips scheduled for Tuesday on through the weekend. He cancelled on Monday due to the weather. He reported the high score on Sunday was 5 salmon to 25-pounds for 12 anglers with a few fish lost in the process.

Stripers are plentiful for those trolling the Marin shoreline. Don’t use lures treble hooks otherwise you will damage the small bass. Anglers at the Paradise Pier are getting stripers with cut baits. You can find halibut at Red Rock and Paradise. Loch Lomond Marina (415) 456-0321
