The Creek is raging right now... With water coming up everyday it will be tough fishing until we see it either stay steady or start coming back down. Salmonflies will be hitting the water soon!

The Creek is rising considerably with our above average temps. Fishing is out right now, but we are patiently or impatiently waiting for the Salmon Flies. In a month or so we will be fishing the big bugs!!! If you're heading up that way the Upper Clark is a better option. Local lakes are beginning to fish as well. We have a bunch of new inventory in the shop and are carrying some great new brands! Come in the shop and check it out!

The Creek is rising by the hour. It's come up a 100 cfs in less than 24 hours, which makes fishing almost out of the question. Your best bet is to head way up the creek and even to the forks. If so think big and flashy nymphs and streamers. Something that will caox the fish into eating and something they can see. It looks like we are starting to see the beginning of run-off...

Keep an eye on the flows. Right now the 'Creek is in good shape, but the recent warm-up will probably get the juices flowing. There are plenty of bugs and good dry fly oppertunities. March browns, grey drakes, skwalas, BWOs and even some caddis. Nymphing with rubber-legs, san juans, p.t.s, princes and similar stuff will work great. The streamer fishing with JJ's specials, yellow yummies and sparkle minnows can be great this time of year to. The upper 'Creek might be your best bet in the next few days.

Rock Creek is fishing awesome right now! March Browns, BWO's and Caddis!!! Need we say more? It's a dry fly fisherman's heaven, right now Creek wide. Nymphing in the morning with stoneflies and san jauns. Dry Fly fishing in the afternoons with March Browns and Caddis (BWO's if it gets cloudy out). Life doesn't get much better... Streamer fishing is there and we love brown/yellow this time of year. Give it a try if the dry fly thing isn't happening or if you are just crazed about throwing streamers, like some of us here!

This is one of the best options if you are thinking about fishing today. The dry fly fishing might not be as great, but you could still get smattering of March Browns and Gray drakes. Today it's going to be a big stonefly and pink worm day or a streamers tights to the banks kind of day. The fish are going to be tight to the banks getting out of the way of the really fast water. So, fish tight and hold on! We are seeing on average bigger fish up here this year! That's good news!
Lets hope this warm spell over the weekend doesn't bump the water too much.

Rock Creek has been fantasitc over the past few weeks. The overlapping hatches of March Brown's, BWO's, and even the late hatching skwalls are making the fish look up! Most fish are keying in on the March Browns as the hatch is crazy right now. Our all-time favorite fly for the March Brown is the Copper Cripple. Second to that is the Carnage March Brown. For Skwala's stick with Rogue Stones, Olive Stimulators and Carlson's Cadillac Skwala. Streamer fishing is ok, but a lot better on the overcast days. Anything brown and yellow is a good bet. Sparkle Minnows, JJ Specials, Yellow Yummies and Silvey's Scuplins...
Rock Creek is pretty low, and the water is super clear. Don't just walk out into the middle of the river and start fishing. Approach with caution, pay attention, and watch the water. Many times you can spot fish rising in spots you wouldn't think of.
Lets hope this warm spell over the weekend doesn't bump the water too much.

Rock Creek has been great and we don't expect that to change for the near future. The mid to upper creek seems to be fishing best. Skwala's are out as well as March Browns, Grey Drakes and BWO's. So your afternoon dry fly opportunities are there. We love olive and black stimulators up here with a march brown cripple dropper or a purple haze dropper. Nymphing is pretty good in the mornings with your typical spring stuff like san jauns, rubber legs, big princes and pheasant tails. Streamer fishing is starting to pick up with anything brown and yellow like JJ's and Beldar Rubberlegs.

Rock Creek is on the drop! It is dropping pretty quick so the fishing up here is going to be great this week!!! We have been seeing Skwalas and March Browns as well as some BWO's. A Skawal and a dropper is a great way to do some prospecting. Drop a prince nymph, 20 incher or a worm off the back of your Rogue Stone, Chewy Stone or your whatever Skwala you love. When you start seein the March Browns it's time to get out a Cripple or a copper cripple. Another great option is a sz 14 purple haze. Streamers could be a decent option on lowlight days like today. JJ's or anything brown and yellow work great this time of year.

Flow: 439 CFS
Hatches: Skwalas, Purple Haze, March Browns, Worms, Rubber legs, and Princes
Comments: As always The Creek is fishing. The upper sections of the river have been giving up some great days. On the right day the dry fly action can be great up there. No need to get technical in your fly selection. The Purple Haze has been picking up lots of fish. Your “Tweener” bugs are also working. Size 12 and 14 Stonefly patterns that can go for Skwalas or Neumoras have also been the ticket. If you are looking for numbers put on an indicator, a Rubber legs, and a worm. If you put some miles between yourself and I-90 you can have a great day away from the crowds

This is probably one of your best local options for this weekend! The water has come up, but it's not hurting the fishing as bad as the other rivers. Skwala's and March Brown's have been spotted and fish are eating them! The entire creek is fishing well right now. The upper seems to be having a great spring with lots of great fish being caught. Nymphing in the morning with double beads, black/brown rubbers legs, prince nymphs and worms have been great. Around noon switch to dries and fish until they won't eat the dry anymore. Rogue Stones, Olive Stimulators, Mr. Beams, Chewy Stones for Skwalas. Drop off a Purple Haze, Adams or a March Brown Cripple. Streamer fishing should be good this weekend if it gets cloudy and drizzly. Stick with Krystal Buggers, JJ's and Yellow Yummies.

The water is coming up a little bit, but it's not looking too bad. A few more days to let it settle down then it will be back to normal. A good option all over the creek now with stonefly nymphs sizes 8 thru 12, sreamers, red collared prince nymphs all sizes, rubber legs, bead head 20 inchers, olive hares ear, all these in 10 and 12. The upper end of Rock Creek is a great option right now. It's a bit of a longer drive going up through P-burg, but it's worth the drive. There are fishing being caught on your usual nymphs for this time of year worms, rubberlegs, princes, flashback hare's ears and black copper johns. The dry fly fishing has started to pick up over the past week on lower and upper Rock Cr. We are seeing BWO's and neumora's around. A sz 18 purple haze or parachute adams for the BWO's and a sz 16 olive or black stimulator seems to be getting it done. We will start seeing skwala's any day now especially on the upper stretches and the March Brown and Grey Drake fishing should be starting right now on the lower river.

Hatches: Skwalas,Worms, Rubber legs, and Micro May flies
Comments: The Creek is turning on, and getting into spring mode. The fish are starting to look up and eat bugs on top. While the Skwalas are a little behind the other rivers the fish will still eat a skwala pattern. The bobber rig might be the most productive way to bring fish to hand. Worms, Rubber legs, and copper johns are all working very well right now.

The Creek is fishing pretty good both upper and lower ends. Double Nymph rigs are still king right now as there isn't much surface activity happening. There are midges coming off, but the fish don't seem to care much about them. Rubberlegs, Princes, Hares ears, Lightning bugs and worms are all catching fish. Streamer fishing is a decent option too. Smaller sculpizillas, krystal buggers, JJ's and Sparkle Minnows. Think deep and slow still. Look for the slower deeper water and work all of it!

The Creek could be a good option as we've heard the fishing is getting better everyday, even up on the upper Creek! Fish slow and deep and you should have a good day. Tandem nymph rigs with a split shot to get it down is the ticket. Rubberlegs, worms, lightning bugs, prince nymphs and black copper john's are all working. If you want to change up the pace you can throw smaller streamers. Slow them down and let them get deep. You can always put one under an indicator too! There are some midges coming off in the afternoon, but nothing to much to speak of really. Get out and enjoy the outside and all that Rock Creek has to offer!
