The 99 anglers checked at Lower Otay reported catching 364 bass to 6.1 pounds and 58 bluegill. Fishing guide Jim Hallauer reports he has consistently been catching the schooling bass in both Otay and Harvey Arms. "They've been up for the majority of the day in both arms," he said. His two clients on Saturday combined for 12 fish averaging 2.5 pounds a piece. He says the water temperature has been around 81 degrees.
The water level is 17.10 feet below spill. Launching conditions are good.
Lower Otay is open on a Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday schedule with rental boats available on all three of those days, but be sure to call ahead to confirm (619)397-5212.

The water temperature is 75-79 degrees. With the hotter temperatures we have been seeing not much action is going on. Bluegill are being caught but averages are staying below a half pound. Bass fishing has slowed from its normal with nothing over 5 lbs being caught.
