With a river filled with slush this morning we decided to wait it out and hit the river around noontime and it was the correct move. Andrew and his dad had a great afternoon of fishing. The biggest fish of the day was the last one landed, 18lbs. This male steelhead put up an awesome fight and after taking a quick picture he was released to fight another day. Mostly males today, only 2 hens, one which was spawned out. All fish came on egg sacs once again.

Salmon were still spread out and were being taken in 80 to 400 feet of water. A good starting point continues to be in the 80- to 100-foot depths around river mouths. Flasher and flies, spoons, J-plugs and cut bait were all working. Things can change quickly when fish decide to head to the tributaries, so cover water looking for fish or bait if not marking or catching fish.

The month of September was very productive off shore. We fished 350-500 ft of water. Catching multiple 2 yr old kings and very nice steel-head. Warrior spoons and meat rigs took most of the fish. It was a nice way to close out the 2014 season. Looking forward to next spring!
