Bass: Good. Jocassee Outdoor Center reports that bass fishing remains strong, and while the spawning season is mostly finished good numbers of bass can still be caught up pretty shallow. The spotted and smallmouth bass bite has been particularly good, with fish being caught around shoreline cover including trees and brush. Soft plastics as well as crawdad-colored crankbaits have been working well.

  • Bass: Fair. Bass are starting to move into a more traditional summer pattern. First thing, there is a decent topwater bite, and it’s a good bet to throw favorite topwater lures off the points for the first hour or two of the day. After that, anglers need to target deeper water, and dragging shakey head worms and Carolina rigs off points in about 30-40 feet of water is the best pattern.

Lake Jocassee:  Bass: Slow to fair. Captain Steve Pietrykowski reports that bass are scattered both shallow and deep, but the bite is not hot anywhere. It’s worth trying topwater lures off points during low light conditions, but the most consistent pattern is drop shotting and fishing shakey head worms off points.
