The bite has beed very good. The fish are eating. I have been catching them early with square bill crank baits in two foot of water and then soft plastics in about eight foot around eight to ten am. The fish seem to stay around all day in that deapth.

Bass are holding in 6 n- 9 feet near grass lines and also in 12 - 16 feet of water near drop offs and manin lake points.. Soft plastics rigged Carolina are taking most fish. Colors are Watermelon / and any other color. Fish seem to be very POST spawn. A few fish not a lot are coming from the weeds near shorlines. Most fish have spawned. Look for Shad to begin surfacing in the early AM and lat PM and start getting ready for the Top water bite. Reent topwater bites have been succesful on Buzzbaits and white poppers like chuggers or spittin images or chug bugs in chrome.Bite has been extended and relatively slow all day long. 5 -10 fish per person is a good day right now..

Fish are in spawn, and post spawn state right now. Some fish in the shallows are catchable along weedlines with light Texas rigged Lizards or worms. Fish in in the 4 - 11 foot range are catchable with Texas rigged and Carolina rigged worms. Some deep fish are stabilizing long enough to catch them out of 16 - 22 feet on Carolina rigs. Hardbaits in vogue at the moment are lipless H20 and square billed H20 baits. Average fisherman catching 6 -12 on all day 8 hour trips on good days and as many as 20 on excellent days. Best days have been before incoming fronts, even though the fronts are not very strong. A few Topwater fish showing up late in the evenings.

The water is nice and the bite is on. The water temp is about 73-75 and fish are in 6 to 8 foot and eating. It has been very windy and you have to get in the coves but it all ok if the bass are eating. Soft plastics in watermellon are a good choice.

Bass are still in the 3- to 9 foot depths on most of the lake. Current baits to use are Chartruese or shad / tilapia crankbaits, Watermelon rigged worms on Texas or Carolina, depending on the cover being fished. Average angler catching 5 - 10 in a 1/2 day. Guide boats with as many as 25 - 30 for 1/2 day. Bite consistant all day long now that water is at 73 - 78 degrees around the lake. Some fish still have not spawned. Tilapia good on cast nets in shallow ( less than 4' of water ) . Catfishing is good in 3 - 10 feet of water on CJ's Punch bait shad and crawdad. Red ears begiining to make a small presence in 6 - 12 feet of water. Fishing should continue to get better as weather warms. most bass ar in the 2 - 4 # range.

Fish are very scattered. Small fish are being caught on main lake points in 16 ft of water, medium sized 2 & 3 pound fish in 6 - 10 ft of water, large fish in 2 ft, 6 ft and in 16 ft of water. Not very specific but it is what is happening. Moving crankbaits and lipless crankbaits and minnow baits are all catching bass. The constants are lighter weighted plastic worms rigged Texas and Carolina style in Watermelon. Sandy bottoms are a key as there is no underwater grass over 97% of the lake. Sighting of shad is also a key to having fish in the area you might want to work very hard. We still have a large % of fish that have not spawned. We did get to 70 degrees F for the last two days. If it stays this week and the fish move in we will have a large number of these fish start their spawn. The best days are when the wind is letting anglers controll their baits slowly. We are behind in our normal cycle on the lake this year.

Lake level has risen slightly in last 8 days.. Continued cool fronts have water temperature at still in the 63 - 68 degree range. Bas and Catfish are still being caught in deep water at 25 - 30 foot depths and also in shallow water from 10 feet to as shallow as 18". Best bite is staging fish. Carolina and Texas Rigged worms Wacky worms, are working well with lipless crankbaits accounting for roaming feeders.Hopefully mid to late week warming weather trends will begin to get fish very active. Individuals catching 20 fish in half days with groups boating 20 -60 per boat.Watermelon, grape, and shad baits

Fishing has been fair but still not up to February standards yet. Most fish coming in the 8 - 14 foot range on Carolina Rigged plastic french fry's and Lizards in watermelon and sour grape. Should see better action as soon as next two cool fronts pass just due to length of days and Bass nowing it is "that time" to startthe annual spawn process.

Fayette County Fishing Report
The water temperature has remained fairly steady despite the cold north winds. Fishing has been good for the most part and should be improving in the coming days and weeks. A lot of small fish are being caught along with an equal number of larger fish in the 3 to 5 pound range. Baits that have been producing have been a shad colored Topwater or a shad colored Crankbait , fished early along the dam. Another good area and early morning bite is in the backs of coves fishing a small Squarebill or 1/4oz. Spinnerbait. Later in the day the fish have been moving into a little deeper water and are being caught in 12 to 18 feet of water on a Texas Rigged 10” watermelon/cotton candy worm or a 6” “C”-Rigged watermelon / red lizard. Some fish are also being caught using a Drop-Shot Rig along the road bed close to the cold water intake.
