Jordan Lake, NC Fishing Report

The water temp is in the 50's with the best time to fish in the late morning to mid day. Try catching the bass with crankbaits along rocky points near deeper water.

Tough fishing. The fish are scattered and it is taking everything in the tackle box to catch one here and there. We got some weather coming in and I am looking forward to getting this transitional month out of the way.

Topwater action in the early am then go deep to about 14ft of water in the afternoon with big plastics and crank baits. 

The water temp is averaging 86 degrees.

The shallow bite is good. pitch jigs in laydown. The top water bite is good in the early morning. There is some schooling in the evening try using carolina rigs, football head jigs in the creeks and bends.

Most fish are in the 8-25 foot range.

Conditions exactly the same.

-       Morning bite on top water.

-       Really working the ledges with plastics, Texas and Carolina rigs and some crank baits.

-       Clarity is good.

-       Water is around 80 degrees.

-       The tropical rain has raised the water levels.

-       The fish will move to shallower waters.

-       Fishing is good towards the banks where the water will be raising and flooding.

-       Best to use spinner baits and jigs.

Conditions are similar to the last report. The fishing should pick up and change once the weather heats up. Topwater has picked up the last week and the post spawning fish are around the shads. Be sure to go early near the ledges with texas rigs and carolina rigs.

The fish are in post spawning patterns near the main lake points, dropoffs, ledges and creeks. The largemouths are biting on crank baits, alabama rigs, and football jigs. Water is steady around 76 degrees, the clarity is clean and the best time to go in the morning.

The fish have been sitting on the beds, lots of post spawns on the secondary points. The fish have been biting plastics, top water, spinner baits, crank baits, with no specific colors being used. The water temperature has been ranging from 68-72 degrees and the clarity has been good as well.

Things have generally the same conditions on the Falls, Jordan, and Harris with a lot of spawn. There have been a lot of catches on the beds, specifically the better bass. We have been fishing anywhere from 6 inches to 6 feet of water, which have been pretty good. The shallows have been the hotspot to catch the bass and have been really good lately. To catch the Largemouth, we have been using jiggs and spinners. The water is typically around 69-75 degrees and the clarity has been quite good at all three lakes as well.

Bass are in backs of creeks and secondary point by the loads. Check shallow hard bottom areas with plastics, jigs and topwaters. Water temps are soaring with this weather.

Water temps are climbing but fish are still scattered. Check shallows frequently as we move through this month.

Water temps are in upper 40s now. Fish are scattered. Covering lots of water is key. Pre-spawn patterns are catching fish as we have this unusually warm weather.

The bass bite is a little slow, but anglers can still find them deep, particularly if they head up river into the Haw.  The crappie are not schooling as heavily as usual per this time of the year because of the warmer water temps, but you can find schools in most of the usual areas - particularly around bridge piers.  The catfish bite is hot in deep channels with shad and other baitfish.  Afternoon was the best bite for nearly all species.

Fishing SLOW and covering water is the key right now. Rocky areas (i.e. riprap and natural rock areas) near deep water will produce the best.
