JESS RANCH LAKES: Trout action was very good this past week in both lakes this week. The best bite has been on PowerBait (especially spring green, garlic and salmon peach), jigs, and nightcrawlers. Salvador Garcia, Hesperia, had a five-fish limit that included trout at 7-8, 6-2 and six pounds. Bass are moving into the spawn with fish to five pounds reported. Trout action continues to be fair to good on both lakes this week with anglers enjoying great Spring weather--cool mornings and warm afternoons. Power Bait ( especially rainbow, garlic and salmon peach), jigs, lures and night crawlers all got trout on line. Hot spots included the western and eastern shores of lake 3 as well as the western and northern shores of lake 2. Bass are in early pre-spawn (they're active with a few nests) with anglers reporting fish up to 5 pounds. Catfish are biting on mackerel and shrimp from the western of shore of lake 3. Catches of the Week: Salvadore Garcia of Hesperia caught his 6 Lbs, 7.8 Lbs and 6.2 Lbs trout on a tube jig from the north shore of lake 2. James Conaway of San Bernardino caught his 10.7 Lbs rainbow on a Moon Worm black minnow from the north shore of lake 2. Placentia angler, Jose Fernandez, scored an 8.7 Lbs rainbow using a large minnow while fishing the grassy point of lake 3. La Puente angler, Robert Delatorre, reeled in a 7.9 Lb trout on a yellow tube jig while fishing the north shore of lake 2. Ed Correla of Apple Valley reeled a 6 Lb albino catfish on mackerel from the western shore of lake 3. Sal Garcia of Hesperia caught two 7.8 Lb rainbows and a 4.3 Lb Bass on jigs while fishing the western shore of lake 2.
