Cooler weather has improved the trout bite with anglers using Power Bait (especially salmon peach, spring green and garlic), night crawlers, jigs and lures to get fish on line. Hot spots included the western shore and the grassy point of lake 3. Bass bite has slowed with anglers reporting best action on the western and south eastern shores of lake 2. Catfish are biting on mackerel, night crawlers and shrimp from the western and northern shore of lake 2 and the western shore of lake 3. Catches of the Week: Eduardo Gomez of Hacienda Heights caught his 16 Lbs catfish on a night crawler from the north shore of lake 2.

Warm temperatures continue to keep the trout bite very slow. The few fish being landed are coming in before 9 a.m. on PowerBait in salmon peach, spring green and garlic, nightcrawlers, or small jigs. The bass bite has been fair to good with some topwater fish early, and the catfish bite is pretty decent on mackerel, nightcrawlers, or shrimp. Bluegill remain fair on small jigs and meal worms with some to a pound reported. For more information call (760)240-1107 or go to www.jessranchlakesnews.com.
