The catfish bite has been good with 1,000-pound plants July 24 and another slated for Thursday this week. The average size is around four pounds. Best action has been on garlic shrimp, nightcrawlers, marshmallow-meal worm combo, and cut mackerel. Top fish this week was a 12-pounder landed by Tom Gillum, Apple Valley, fishing shrimp off the east bank. Hector Muniz, San Bernardino, landed a five-pound catfish, while Alex Gomez, Victorville, caught a four-pounder. Nathan Garcia, Hesperia, caught his first fish ever, a two-pounder that hit a nightcrawler at the inlet. Information: 800-521-6332 or 760-244-5951.

Best action has been on garlic shrimp, nightcrawlers, marshmallow-meal worm combo, and cut mackerel. Top fish this week was a seven-pounder landed by Noah Miller, 7, Beaumont on a nightcrawlers. That fish was matched with another seven-pounder caught by Domingo Arils, Highland, also on a nightcrawler.
