Jess Ranch trout planted last Friday and the bite has been pretty good since. Most of the fish are staying near the surface in the upper six feet of water. The bite has been good on slowly-fished lures and jigs, but some fish are showing on PowerBait with garlic scent added fish in shallow water (eight feet or less). Bill Daw, Lake Forest, had a 3-13 rainbow on green garlic PowerBait. Larry Weikel, San Dimas, landed four trout to 3-7 fishing a Kastmaster at the dam. The crappie bite has been fair to good. Every angler who brings in from 15 to a full limit of 25 crappie will receive a raffle ticket for a Sept. 5 drawing for a $100 Bass Pro gift card.
