The season here is drawing to a close. The trout bite continues fair and the lake remains open. Closure date will be put on the web site. Lee Austin, Rowland Heights, caught a 12.1 rainbow using a copper/red Thomas buoyant from the point. All trout over six pounds win a GVL tee-shirt. The trout bite is fair and there was snow at the lake late last week. DFG trout plant three weeks ago. Top rainbow reported was a 4-14 landed by Brett Smiley, Orange, slow-trolling a nightcrawler, while Rick Moon, Green Valley, had a 3-8 rainbow and a 1-6 brown. Moon also landed a 5-2 largemouth this past week. Roy Burton, Green Valley, landed a 2-5 trout. Dark tube jigs, small spinners, and PowerBait have been the best bet. DFG trout plant this week. The bite was slow early last week, but improved right through the weekend and one of the better trout of the season was caught. Jeffrey Vangyi, Santa Ana, landed a 7.3-pound rainbow on a Smoking Jig (dark orange) on Thursday.
