After a fairly mild winter and a cooler than expected March, tarpon have shown up in good numbers throughout the area. Fly anglers have been doing well sight fishing laid up fish in the back bays while lure and bait anglers are doing well fishing the outside islands and passes. Book your tarpon adventure now as space is becoming limited

With the passing of a few cold fronts, winter time fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands is heating up! Typical winter fare usually consists of trout pompano redfish and a host of other wiling fish. We more often than not will be fishing jigs tipped with shrimp and use a run and gun approach to find pockets of active fish. Live shrimp will take the place of pilchards this time of year and can account for many multi-species catches. This type of fishing is tailor made for younger or less experienced anglers due to the often non-stop action

Fishing in the Everglades has been fairly consistent. After last weeks full moon snook fishing has picked up with large numbers of smaller fish as well as a few larger ones. The best action for snook has been in the deeper cuts. The outside points are beginning to see some signs of red fish schooling activity. Action comes fast and furious where you find one you will usually several. Tarpon, especially the smaller ones are still lingering on the creeks and rivers and are best targeted at sunrise and sunset.

Stellar fishing in the glades! The last few days have been awesome, fishing for snook reddish and a few tarpon. The outside points south of Chokoloskee have been holding good fish on the higher tide stages while the rivers and creeks are fishing better on the low tide. Plenty of bait to be found around the beaches either finger mullet or pilchards.

The water has been stirred up the last few says by a nagging westerly wind. That beimg said there are still plenty of fish of you are willing to scout out the cleaner water. Redfish are on the outside points and bars on the higher tide stages and snook are being found around the river mouths. Live bait is working best but you should be able to get your fair share on artificials.

Good days in the Glades! Despite the very unpredictable start rolling through, action for snook and reds remains great in the bights. Look for the schools of finger mullet especially as the tide starts to fall.

Great action on snook and reds. Had a great day fishing deep in the Everglades. The water in the bights south of Plover Key have been clearing up and offering awesome sight fishing for big reds and snook. Neat bet os to pole the deeper edges on the very first of the incoming tide. Dark colored jerk baits did the best.

Despite crazy tropical weather we had a good two days catching redfish on artificials. The am bite was pretty slow but the afternoon falling tide was on fire! We found perfect slot sized reds and a few snook cruising tight to the bushes and smashing mullet. Swimbaits rigged weedless and rolled relatively fast were the ticket.

Just finished up three hardcore tarpon fly fishing days in the upper ENP. Despite fairly windy conditions, we were able to convince a few to eat each day. Best action was at first light throwing muddler type flies to rolling fish.

Not a bad day plying the outer coves in the Everglades . We saw plenty of smaller snook crashing bait on the higher tide. Small white baitfish patterns drew the most strikes. Poppers usually work this time of year but for some strange reason I have had very little luck with them lately.

Redfish were spotted closer to the bottom of the falling tide and were quite willing to chase down deer hair patterns in darker shades. Best action was close to oyster bars near the outside.

With westerly winds, the waters have dirtied up a bit. The snook fishing remained strong all week. We threw mostly shallow diving plugs concentrating on backwater creeks and rivers. We also caught a few tarpon and reds in the same areas.

More Tarpon! Fished Saturday and Sunday in upper ENP. We found absolutely dead calm conditions at first light and tarpon were everywhere! Throwing big live baits at rolling fish on the sides of the passes produces the most strikes. Fish were the fun 40-70# range. Snook fishing was decent after the tarpon slowed down, probably better first thing in the am.

Lots of tarpon today! it seems that this little bit of rain has got the tarpon all riled up. We had numerous shots at both laid up fish and rolling fish. The most critical. aspect of this game is to be fast and accurate. Try flies in the brighter. spectrum when its cloudy like it was today for the best results. Dead end bays near the passes are where they are!

Snook! The snook bite has been very consistent the last few days. The bigger fish are coming from the deeper cuts and crushing live baits. With the weaker tides the next few days, you can fish areas that would normally have too much current. We also caught nice snook throwing artificials in the back bays.

Bigger snook! Lots of reports have been coming in about some bigger snook. Today we were fortunate enough to find some bruisers cruising shallow bays and points. We had some follows and blow ups on top water lures but switched to jigs and the. venerable. gold spoon to get the work done.Redfish are about and can be caught in the same places.

Lots of redfish! Had a great weekend chunking the fly to some very willing redfish. All the back bays north of Everglades City were teeming with mid slot sized reds. While some were a bit spooky and would dart away, others absolutely choked the small black flies we were tossing. Best fly choice was a black Gotcha! Ridiculous wind for the rest of the week bit I would guess the fish will hold.

Another Front?!?! Just finished two difficult days searching for tarpon. Ridiculous wind and some showers made for trying conditions. Despite the badness we were able to hunt down some really nice sized back country tarpon. There was some reluctance to bite the fly as can be expected with the weather but the tried and true black and purple demon got a few to tussle.Hopefully this will be the last front for awhile and water conditions will improve!

Wild Reds! Lots of redfish in the back bays right now. There are pockets of clean water and we have been going old school by throwing 1/2oz gold spoons around oysters in the open. Super long casts and a slow roll are the key. You'll notice the tell, tale wake as they track the spoons down! A few snook as well. Easy fishing!

Awesome Snook Bite! I has the opportunity to fish the last two days with a pair of highly skilled casters. Man were we rewarded! We began both days with top water plugs and caught both snook and reds in the backs of coves near the outside. It's nice to see some larger snook in the 30" pkud range after the freeze a few years ago.Long accurate casts on the rising tide was the key. Cleaner water was also critical to success. We looked for tarpon both days bit flu.d very few to throw to.

Stellar days in the Glades! the last few days have been absolutely stellar! Both morning and afternoon trips have been catching lots of snook and redfish as well as good shots at some large tarpon! Redfish have been going crazy for scented jigs pitched tight to the mangroves and slowly crawled back. Snook are crushing topwater and shallow swimming plugs worked quickly across flooded ouster bars and shallow groves. The key component has been the presence of bait. Stay near the schools of shimmering bait and you'll do fine!
