Flows on the Elk are 50 cubic M/sec and clarity is 3 to 4 ft Drakes are out with the recent over cast and rain shower. Hoppers are in the grass at the boat launches. Smaller golden stones are still frequent. Its fishing well on top! All the tribs are also in great shape. We are also one of the few spots that dont have forest fires so be careful with campfires etc.

Todaythe Elk is at 180 Cubic M/sec for flow. We need it below 120 Cubic M/sec but the best is below 100 Cubic M/sec. To put the flow in perspective, a very low flow that we see in late season(October ) is 35 Cubic M/sec. Last years flood saw over 1000 Cubic M/sec for a peak and this years peak was average at 300 Cubic M/sec. There is some rain in the forecast so it won’t drop too fast if there is a significant amount. I think a week or more before its worth the journey to Fernie. That said, a few guys are going out and getting the odd fish in the right spots. There just aren’t many “right spots” at the moment. Still water is stil excellent!!!!!
