Elephant Butte Lake, NM Fishing Report

The surface water temp was in the low 70s. Fishing was fair to good using shiners for white bass. A few were also taken by anglers using crank baits and sassy shad. Anglers using shiners also reported catching two freshwater drum along with several other species. Fishing for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass was fair using senkos, jigs, grubs, lizards and shiners. Fishing for walleye was slow but there were a few caught by anglers using shiners and crank baits. Fishing for catfish was good using shiners, cut bait and shrimp. Most of the catfish caught were on the small side. We had no reports on other species. The Monticello and Dam Site boat ramps remain closed due to low water conditions. The Rock Canyon ramp has reopened.
