Fishing has been red hot and mediocre, typical Eagle Mountain Lake in March. Water was warming and hitting mid sixties in the afternoons but with the recent front it has cooled significantly, with another 3-5 days of warm weather I ecpect fishing will bust loose and be excellent the rest of spring.

April is generally the best blue catfish bite of the year so I am looking for some excellent fishing in the weeks to come.

We have caught fish in the deepest and shallowest water in the lake in the last week and there is no rhyme or reason, just find the bait and you find the fish.

The Eagle Mountain Lake Fishing Guide report is that the fishing for blue catfish and trophy blue catfish has been good. The big rains slowed the bite down some and with the lake coming up several feet over the last week it is understandable. They are also letting water out of Eagle Mountain Lake as well. The lake is muddy and there is lot's of floating debris but the fishing has been pretty good overall and will only continue to get better over the next few weeks.

Fished Eagle Mountain early this week and the bite started a bit slow in the morning but picked up later in the day.

Blue catfish to 8 lbs were good and we ended up with a total of 38 blue catfish in a day of fishing with no bigger fish. Marked bigger blue catfish on side scan in several locations but had no takers.

Water temperature is hovering between 59 and 62 degrees. We need some cooler weather to come in and stay for a week or so to help drop the water temperatures and fire up the trophy blue catfish bite.

If you are not familiar with Eagle Mountain Lake you need to be very careful when you get on the water. Several points and humps have inches of water on top of them on the main lake in what would seem like deeper water and there are a lot of boats getting stuck.

Fished Eagle Mountain Lake several times this week for blue catfish and channel catfish, with both species being very productive. The cold fronts, cool mornings and warm afternoons have the fish scattered and moving around a lot but fishing is very productive. Blue catfish have been good to excellent on fresh caught shad fished anchored in depths from 1 to 25 feet and channel catfish have been good to excellent in depths from 1 to 5 feet.

The fish will stay scattered and keep moving around a lot for the next couple of weeks, these cold nights will help to continue to improve the bite and prime fishing will be hitting very soon.

Fishing will only continue to improve over the next few weeks. Fall and Winter are an excellent time for catching good numbers of blue catfish and also catching trophy class blue catfish on rod and reel.

Eagle Mountain Lake has been turning over for about 10 days now. The water looks much better than it did earlier in the week but has still not completely cleared up yet. Overall the water is very murky, lots of debris floating in the water and foam everywhere. Lake turnover should wrap up soon with these tring winds we have been having and the rains over the weekend will help also.

Fish were very scattered and all over the lake, marked fish in several locations but had to fend off the white bass before we finally started catching some fish. Not a banner day at all but we managed enough blue catfish to stay relatively busy.

I suspect fishing will pick up within the next few days with the big rain we had and the lake clearing up,

The fall and winter blue catfish bite is as good as it gets for numbers of fish and big fish both. If you want to catch a trophy class catfish then fall and winter is the time to do it. I am started to book for these trips so just give me a shout at 817-522-3804 and we can get you set up!

The water is still rising and the lake is almost full. They are still pumping water in from East Texas as of today. We are expecting some big rains Thursday and Friday which should bring the water level up even more, putting us in good shape for the summer.

The upper lake is still muddy to stained and lower lake has begun to clear after the front, much because of the strong southwest winds we have had the last few days.

The blue catfish bite was slow early this week after the front but we managed to catch some excellent catches of channel catfish fishing with Sure Shot Catfish Punch Bait under a slip bobber rig. The channel catfish are full of eggs so they should be in full spawn very soon.

The blue catfish bite picked up this weekend and we managed excellent numbers of blue catfish Saturday and Sunday up to 15 lbs using fresh shad.

White bass are still on a feding frenzy and the bite should remain good to excellent through the summer,
