3 fish caught | Lunker: 1lb Bluegill using a Live Worm
The bluegill have been stacking up below the dam waiting on food to work its way downstream. Some very big ones are down close to the bottom, which right now is between 2 1/2 and 3 feet. Fishing directly on bottom or using a float suspended a few inches from bottom will trigger strikes within seconds and there should be no problem catching a dozen or two eater-size panfish in an hour or two of fishing. Once the sun starts to drop, it's time to break out the topwater lures and switch over to bass fishing. Largemouth, smallmouth and the occasional hybrid start showing themselves in large numbers. I also observed a few carp swimming around and the appearance of a small boat with a couple bow-fishing tells me that this is probably a common fish in this area.
