DOANE POND: No recent DFW trout plants.
DIXON LAKE: Catfish are fair to good on shrimp in Whisker Bay. Isaac, Joseph, and Benjamin Magana, San Diego, had a stringer of cats with fish to 3-3. Bass fair to good on plastics, nightcrawlers, and increasingly on reaction baits. Mike Dispensiero, San Marcos, landed a 6-5 bass on a trout swimbait near the boat dock. The trout bite has been very slow for anglers fishing PowerBait or inflated nightcrawlers dressed up with garlic scent. Jack Creek Cove, Whisker Bay, and Pier No. 1 have been the top spots, but the action is best in the deeper water off these spots. Lake information: 760-839-4680 or www.dixonlake.com.

DIXON LAKE: The 18th Annaul Trout Derby was won by a 9.21-pound rainbow caught by Robert Gomez, Escondido. Overall, the fishing was good with a lot of limits reported and quite a few bigger fish after the 4,500-pound stocking last week. The best action has continued to be off Pier 1, Whisker Bay, and Jack Creek Cove. The bass action has also continued fair to good, mostly on plastics and reaction baits. Fair action on catfish, and more bluegill are starting to be caught. Lake information: 760-839-4680 or www.dixonlake.com.
