3 fish caught | Lunker: 2lb White Bass using a Berkley Grub

Me and my son went fishing at Elizabeth park on the Trenton Channel for about two hours and caught 21 white bass. The smallest was 10 inches and the largest was 14 inches. In all we kept 12 ranging from 11 to 14 inches. There not biting hot and heavy yet but it was still fun. 21 fish for 2 guys fishing for 2 hours isn't bad. Most people were bottom fishing using minnows but twisters and jig heads seemed to be more productive. Twisters are always my go to lure for White bass. Weight is always dictated by the amount of current. Today was 1/2 oz jigs because the river was up from the recent rain we had. In previous years I've used 1/4 and 3/8 oz jigs. The biggest problem is trying not to get tangled up with the other close by fishermen. If you live close to the Detroit River I suggest you get down there and get on white bass bandwagon. It's a blast !!!!!

Walleye fishing has slowed on the Detroit River, but hand-liners are still taking a few fish.
