CORONA: Trout fishing remains good with weekly plants and the catfish action has also been fair. Top trout reported was a 12-4 landed by Arturo Veleaquez, Anaheim, on PowerBait from his float tube during the Saturday derby. It was the derby winner. Sourideth Bonyavong, Murrieta, had a 9-8 rainbow, while Owen and Nathan Delacar, Lake Elsinore, had two trout and seven catfish on a stringer that totaled 21 pounds, all caught on nightcrawlers. The lake is open Friday through Tuesday and no boats or float tubes are being allowed until the water level comes up, including rental boats. There is also no 24-hour fishing yet this season.      CORONA: Big news is that shore fishing will not be allowed this Saturday and Sunday. The lake is open only to float tube and kayak anglers for a special tournament, and large trout will be planted for this event. The fishing has been fair to good with a big load of Lightning Trout part of the stock last week. The big fish of the week wasn’t a trout, however. Hank Tomsen, Orange, caught a 35-pound sturgeon off the sandy beach on a worm. The best trout was an 8-8 that topped off a five-fish 27-pound stringer landed by David Green, Corona. The big Lightning Trout was a seven-pounder caught by Chad Homan, Escondido. The lake is open Friday through Tuesday and normally no boats or float tubes are being allowed until the water level comes up, including rental boats. This weekend’s even is an exception. There is also no 24-hour fishing yet this season. Information: 951-277-4489 or log on at www.fishinglakes.com.
