As of Wednesday, the Army Corps of Engineers reports the lake’s elevation at 659.97 feet msl (normal conservation pool – 654 msl).

Mike Worley’s Guide Service said the water temperature is in the mid-50s to low 60s. Bass fishing is pretty good most days with stick baits, grubs and lizards in less than 20 feet of water. White bass are biting on shad-colored jigs, spinners and crankbaits in the backs of the creeks with colored water on windy days. Walleye have mostly finished spawning and are moving to chunk rock banks in less than 20 feet of water; they are starting to bite on spinner rigs, stick baits and crankbaits.

As of Wednesday, the Army Corps of Engineers reports the lake’s elevation at 649.10 feet msl (normal conservation pool – 654 msl).

Mike Worley’s Guide Service said the surface water temperature is in the mid- to upper 40s. Black and white bass are staging for spring with the better bite after two or three days of warmer windy weather. Crappie fishing is improving, with the larger slabs holding near wood and brush piles. Bass are being found in the creek channels on both flats and steeper points with plenty of wind on them. Stick baits and swimbaits are producing some nice fish. White bass are moving into the creek channels and can be found about halfway back around balls of shad with swimbaits and jigging spoons catching really nice fish. Alabama rigs are working well rigged with swimbaits or grubs for all the bass species on windy days. Walleye are still pretty slow, but a few really nice ones are being caught suspended in the creek and river channel on Megabass, Smithwick and Lucky Craft jerk baits worked very, very slowly.

As of Wednesday, the Army Corps of Engineers reports the lake’s elevation at 646.69 feet msl (normal conservation pool – 654 msl).

Mike Worley’s Guide Service said water temperature is 59 degrees. Be very careful when boating as the low water level has exposed hazards that we haven't seen for several years. Walleye are starting to bite in shallow water (less than 10 feet deep) and biting on suspending stick baits, such as Rogues and Lucky Craft Pointers, and on Alabama rigs. Smallmouth bass and large stripers are also biting on this pattern. Trolling Alabama rigs in 20 feet one day last week produced six hooked stripers in the 30-lb. range with three boated and released. Crappie are suspended over brush piles and in the standing timber along bluff banks, and are biting on jigs and minnows and ¼-oz. jigging spoons. White bass and spotted bass are biting on jigging spoons in 30-60 feet of water.

Mike Worley’s Guide Service said the water surface temperature has cooled a few more degrees to 78-80 degrees. We have received some much-needed rain and some nice fall weather. Walleye are biting in 30-34 feet on night crawler rigs trolled with bottom-bouncers on gravel flats. White and silver jigging spoons are catching a mixed bag of walleyes, black and white bass. Catfish have been biting on night crawlers in 10-40 feet. Soft plastic baits like Hula grubs, plastic worms and swim baits are catching bass in 20-40 feet.
