The catfish bite has been good all along the lower Colorado River, but there has been light fishing pressure due to heat and humidity this past week. For the flatheads, live bluegill and goldfish are the top baits and the canals are as good as the main river. Lots of six to 20-pound fish reported with a lot released. The channel catfish bite is also good on cut baits. The bass bite is fair to good on plastics and nightcrawlers in the backwaters, and in the main river the smallmouth are fair to good on small cranks, especially in the stretches with rip-rap. The bluegill bite is very good in most areas. Mosquitos are bad so bring the bug juice. Information: B&B Bait 760-921-2248.
