Match The Hatch

June 22, 2012
By: Capt. Lou Borrelli

One fact of the fishing world is that we routinely see gamefish up close, but we often need to rely on photos or drawings to see what baitfish look like. Here's a closeup look at an alewife that bit a Michigan Stinger Coyote spoon. Note the purplish-blue back and yellow/green tinges on the side, and how close in size and color the alewife is to the spoon. Match the hatch!
