Iobee: Jackall Delivers A Premium Frog
Jackall Lures has been a favorite of ours for some time now, and for good reason: Nearly every lure the company produces is exceptional right out of the package. The Iobee frog's no exception.
We've been fishing frogs of all types since the early-'80s and we've had a lot of success – especially for big fish.
Hollow-body frogs have primarily been used for slop fishing, because of the feeling that a lack of overall action makes them unsuitable for open water. But frogs have changed in recent years and now most premium frogs come with the expectation that they're also suitable for open water. Jackall's new Iobee Frog is in that group, and its walk-the-dog action makes it quite effective in open water – perhaps as good as any hardbait out there.
There does remain the common hollow-frog issue of a poor hookup percentage. The Iobee's the softest frog on the market and it does provide the best hookup ratio of any frog we've used, and that's a big plus for confidence. Along with the softer plastic body comes a super-sharp hook that's stationed for a well-planned-out angle of attack.
Jackall has the color spectrum well-covered with a choice of beautiful patterns.
The right color can entice a savage strike even while the lure sits still, but the Iobee never really sits motionless because of the legs that slowly sink and quiver as the frog lies at rest.
Many frogs tend to fill up with water while at rest, which ruins performance. In our time fishing with the Iobee, we found no problems with water fill. Also, Jackall has always been known for excellence in lure internals, and the Iobee frog casts further than most other frogs on the market, and with more accuracy.
Whether you've fished frogs or not, the Jackall Iobee will impress. Frog fishing's as hot as ever and this Jackall frog is the hottestl, so jump on board.
