Chip Gilbert breaks Skinner largemouth bass lake record

Chip Gilbert has an eventful couple of weeks up at Lake Skinner lately. Just a couple weeks ago Gilbert landed a 13 pound bass up there, less than a pound shy of their 13.9 pound lake record that was caught in 1999 by Scott Arnott. A mixup at the lake's store led to that fish being briefly listed (even published in WON) as a new 15 pound lake record. Chip quickly set the record straight on Facebook, stating his fish was 13 pounds, not 15.

On Sunday, Gilbert caught another giant bass (pictured). This one was bigger, and verified at 14.5 pounds for a new, legit, lake record. He caught the record bass in the late afternoon on a Shellcracker - a swimbait made by Black Dog Bait Company.

He also had another big fish that day, a 10 pounder shown with the 14.5 in the second photo. Needless to say, Chip has been all over them up at Skinner, so he may break this record again soon.
