Are you ready to do a little saltwater fishing? I hope so because the illustrious Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo is drawing ever closer. The Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo has been making skillful anglers' dreams come true for over 75 years now. It also sports a collective prize purse in excess of $400,000. Here is a bit more information:
Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo Basics
The Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo is scheduled to take place on Dauphin Island from Friday, July 20, 2012 through Sunday, July 22, 2012. It is a multiple category saltwater fishing tournament that is open to recreational anglers. Anglers will be allowed to fish from 5 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day of the tournament. Daily weigh-in is expected to start at 10 a.m.
During the deep sea fishing rodeo, anglers will be fishing for a variety of fish. Species on the list include, but are not limited to, tuna, wahoo, swordfish, speckled trout and dolphin. Some of the awards will be given out based on the size of the fish. There is also a category for the most unusual fish.
The depth and breadth of prizes up for grabs in this fishing competition is pretty impressive if you ask me. The list of prizes ranges from coolers and dive watches to cash, gift certificates, boats and trailers. The prizes are slated to be awarded during an awards ceremony scheduled to take place on Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Battleship Memorial Park's aircraft pavilion.
